Nigel started NBR Mobility in 2001. His son Jonathan joined in 2017, and Nigel’s partner Ruth runs the office. When people say family-run they often mean it loosely. We mean the three of us are here, most days, and one of us will be the person you deal with.
You will not be passed around, and you will not explain your situation twice.
We have never opened a second branch or taken outside investment. Everything we have built has come from people in Norfolk and Suffolk telling someone else about us.
We are accredited by the DfT to assess and advise on mobility scooters and powerchairs. It means the guidance you get here has been independently judged — including the guidance to wait, or to buy nothing at all.
Hundreds of machines come back to us early from the Motability Scheme every year. The best of them are prepared and sold here, to the standard we put on our showroom floor. The rest are still good machines with life left in them — but they are not showroom standard, and we would rather say so than blur the line.
So those go to UsedMobility.uk, our sister site — same workshop, same warranty, same people on the phone, different promise about condition. You always know which one you are buying.
“Ruth rang the day after delivery just to check Mum had got on with it. Nobody asked her to do that.”
“Jonathan spent forty minutes measuring my car and then told me not to bother — the cheaper option would do. Who does that?”
“Nigel came out himself on a Saturday when my chair packed up. Twenty-five years in and he’s still doing callouts.”
Park at the door, ramp access throughout, and no appointment needed. Ruth will put the kettle on.
