Put part of your mobility allowance towards a scooter or powerchair — with insurance, servicing, breakdown cover and repairs all included. We bring the machines to your door, do the paperwork, and look after it for the next three years.
Which allowance do you receive? This is the only thing that decides it.
You also need at least 12 months of your award remaining. Not sure what you get? Ring us and we’ll work it out with you — it takes two minutes.
The part of your allowance that pays for the machine goes straight to the Scheme, and everything below is part of it — you carry on receiving the rest as normal. This is the bit people don’t realise until it’s explained: the day-to-day cost of owning the thing is gone.
Arranged for you as part of the lease, with up to three named users you can change any time.
Annual services done by our engineers, at your home. We book them; you don’t chase us.
Routine repairs covered. If it breaks, you ring us and we come out — there’s no bill at the end.
Included, so a flat battery three miles from home isn’t a crisis.
Replaced as part of the agreement when they wear out. These are the costs that catch owners out.
We bring it, adjust it to you, and stay until you’ve driven it confidently. Twice.
Motability’s site describes this in the abstract. Here’s what it looks like when it’s us, in Norfolk, with your name on the order.
A conversation about where you’d use it, how far you go and what your allowance is. No forms yet.
Two or three, chosen from what you’ve told us. You drive them where you actually live. Nothing to sign.
Ruth submits it to Motability and follows it through. You don’t contact the Scheme at any point.
Built, checked and set to your measurements in our own workshop before it comes anywhere near you.
Set up at your home, demonstrated properly, and then serviced by us for the next three years.
A home demonstration isn’t a sales visit. We turn up with two or three machines chosen from what you’ve told us, you drive them on your own path, through your own doorway, and we go away again. There is nothing to sign.
Half the value is what we notice while we’re there — the camber on your drive, the width of the back gate, whether the shed has a socket. Those are the things that decide whether a machine gets used or sits in a garage.
You hand it back and start again with a new one, or you don’t — it’s your choice. As Motability’s largest collection agent, we’re the ones who collect it either way.
Not all of it. On most machines only part of your weekly allowance goes to the Scheme to pay for it — the rest carries on being paid to you exactly as it is now. So you keep money in your pocket and get the machine. We’ll tell you the split for whichever one you choose.
On most scooters and powerchairs, nothing at all. A few higher-spec models carry an advance payment, and we’ll tell you the number before you decide, not after.
Yes. Up to three named users on the insurance, changeable at any time by ringing us.
That’s exactly what the home demonstration is for, and why we bring more than one. It’s far better to find out on your own driveway than after it’s ordered.
Not both on the same allowance — it funds one or the other. If you’re weighing it up, we’ll talk you through it honestly rather than steering you our way.
“Ruth did every bit of the Motability paperwork. I didn’t speak to the Scheme once, which at eighty-one was a relief.”
“They brought three out for Dad to try on his own drive. He picked the one none of us expected and he’s still on it.”
“Battery went flat on a Sunday. Rang Monday, new set fitted Tuesday, nothing to pay. That’s what the Scheme is for.”
Tell us which allowance you get and roughly what you need it for. Within two minutes you’ll know whether the Scheme works for you — and if it doesn’t, we’ll say so and suggest something else.
